Beware of the "No See Ums"

Well not everyone had a great time at Casa Lagarto on this trip.  Our dear friend Kathy became the chomping grounds for the nasty little No see ums.  They are pesky little guys that come out when the morning and nights are still and bite you.  For most people just putting on some bug spray and wearing some long sleeves and pants in the early morning and dusk is fine.  But try as she might Kathy was getting eaten by the damn things.  She was a real trooper about it for several days, even though no one else was getting any bites.  I finally decided it was time to go to the Dr. in La Pinata and find out the problem.  Well as always the good ole doc came through and she is allergic to them.  After getting some medication she was on the road to recovery.  The Dr. visit and three prescriptions cost her $50.00.  Most people shutter at the thought of having to go to the Dr. in Mexico but I can tell you the clinic is clean and they are very well trained.  The Dr. spoke English and is a very nice man with a very warm smile.  I think Kathy will back me up on this, if you have to see a Dr. in Mexico do not be afraid.  Kathy is on the mend and we will know for the next trip that she needs to start the medication as soon as she gets there.  Because she is ready to go back....bites and all.

The doctor was great. At first, the incense was a little strong, the chanting was confusing, and the mask was scary, but his prognosis and the meds did the trick.
