Mardi Gras 2009

Well Paul and I have made it home from another fantastic Mardi Gras in New Oreleans. We were lucky enought to spend a week in the Big Easy with our dear friends George and Debbie Boudreaux and nine of our friends from Colorado and California. Paul is a member of one of the Mardi Gras Krewes with George. The Krewe of Bacchus is one of the super krewes and we feel very lucky to be part of this group. We started out last Friday at the Kings Ball which once again was breathtaking. The food was excellent and the gathering is pretty small. The king of our krewe this year was Val Kilmer. He was a very hands on king and made sure to greet and shake hands with everyone. Staturday we showed our friends around New Orleans and had some great food. I think we also had a few cocktails as well. Sunday is the Bacchus Brunch and I can not begin to tell you about the food we have, just amazing. Sunday night was our ball and everyone had a blast. We only had a few dead soldiars that night but all and all I think even they had a blast. Monday was spent trying to recover and see more of the sights. Tuesday Paul and I left with George and Debbie and headed to Bay Shore Mississippi for a couple of days of relaxing at "The Camp". I have no idea why they call it that since it is a beautiful custom home on a lake, not what one might think of as a camp! Friday we headed into New Orleans bright and early for a 6am flight. We are always tired when we get home and it took a couple of days to recover, but we love our time in this wonderful city and this wonderful time. It is like a patchwork of America in New Orleans and you see everything there. We always leave looking forward to our next visit. Our special thanks to George (Butt Paste) Boudreaux and the fabuolous Miss Debbie for their friendship, their love and some of the best damn food this side of the Mississippi.
